History Repeats

One Tree, One Man, One Day

A Poem by Trulah

The brokenness of one

Has caused the brokenness of all

The shared forbidden fruit

The multiplying of the fall

Eden’s bitterroot

Wraps around humanity

Knowledge of good and evil repeats itself in me

If through one man we’ve been enslaved,

Through one can we be freed?

If one man brought about our shame,

Can another bring glory?

One tree, one man, one day

And the fall of all ensued

One tree, one man, one day

History was made new

Which are you? Which are you?

In Adam or in Christ?

For the first knows only death

The latter, only life

Accompanying Scriptures:

Romans 5:12-21; 1 Corinthians 15:45-49

Lyrics & Music by Trulah & Victory Boyd

It started in the Garden

With Adam and Eve

Humanity has fallen

And history repeats

The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree

Only one kind of fruit can come from

Corruptible seed

History repeats in me

When the strength within me fails

But His glory delivers me

As the hand of God prevails

Praying in the Garden

Of Gethsemane

The Son of Man responded

Your will let it be

He was pierced for our transgressions

Hung on a tree

Little did they know they buried

The incorruptible seed

History repeats in me

When the strength within me fails

But His glory delivers me

As the hand of God prevails

We’re all born of flesh and blood

A fallen nature from day one

How can what has fallen ever rise above?

To God this is no mystery

He raised the Son for all to see

In Christ the bound have been set free

By His Spirit there is victory

History repeats in me

When the strength within me fails

But His glory delivers me

As the hand of God prevails

(Time and time and time again

And again and again

I’m resurrecting)

History repeats
